South Johnston Alumni baseball game
South Johnston High School will host a baseball alumni game on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Bruce Coats Field. There will be a batting practice session at 1:30 p.m. and players participating are asked to arrive by 3 p.m. so teams can be set. The game will begin at 4 p.m. There is no charge for players to participate but admission will be $5 for spectators. The concession stand will be open and donations will be accepted. Lancaster Charity Classic is Oct. 1-2
The 2015 Neal Lancaster Charity Classic golf tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 2, at the Country Club of Johnston County. Proceeds from the event benefit the Johnston Community College Foundation which supports JCC through student scholarships, faculty and staff development, program support and other projects. Tee times are set for 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday. A catered dinner, silent auction and reverse raffle will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1. 2015 Horse Show Series
The Johnston County Horse Show Series offers fun and exciting shows while still maintaining a down home atmosphere that encourages family participation. The shows, mostly held at the Johnston County Livestock Arena near Smithfield, are open shows that welcome riders and horses/mules from all riding levels, breeds and disciplines. JCHSS offers classes in Halter, Western, Working Western, Hunters & Jumping, Dressage Suitability, Trail, Miniature equines, Driving and English. Classes are placed through eighth place with 21 championship divisions per show. The remaining show dates for 2015 are Oct. 31 (the Fall Fling Spooktactular with trailer treating, games and more) and Nov. 14. A negative coggins test within one year is required. Turkey Trot is Nov. 14
The Club at Flowers Plantation will hold its annual 5K Turkey Trot to benefit Eastern and Central Carolina’s Food Bank on Nov. 14. The cost is $20, which includes a race T-shirt. Register at flowersplantation.com or by calling 919-553-1984, ext. 201.

Tarheel Seniors Golf Association
The Tarheel Seniors Golf Association will hold 16 events this year across the area this summer with events at The Neuse, River Ridge, Falls Village, Bentwinds, 12 Oaks, Zebulon Country Club, Lochmere, Devils Ridge and Eagle Ridge. Entry fees are $30-40 per event, which are usually held on Mondays. Four flights of play are offered.
