Senior Raequan Smith led the way with 24 points as Smithfield-Selma downed Nash Central 79-67 in boys basketball on Tuesday night to get to 3-2 on the season.
Josh Raiford had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Marquise Longmire added 11 points. Smith picked up nine boards as well.
Nash Central won the girls game, 65-43.
North boys also move to 3-2: North Johnston’s boys basketball team also won on the road Tuesday night to get to 3-2 on the season. The Panthers turned back Rosewood, 66-54.

Three Panthers finished in double-figures scoring: Adam Tucker had 17 and Matt Griswold chipped in a dozen.
Rosewood won in girls play, 62-37.
Cougars stand 7-0: Neuse Charter’s girls basketball team moved to 7-0 on the season with a 44-31 victory over Kestrel Heights Wednesday night. Dominique Dakin led the Cougars with 12 points.
Kestrel Heights prevailed in boys action, 80-64. The Cougar boys are 4-3 on the season.
Princeton girls improve to 2-0: Princeton’s girls basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 39-31 win over Union on Monday. Chelsea Hawley had eight points and six steals for the Bulldogs in the win. Five players had six or more points each for the Bulldogs. Amber Johnson shared high-scorer honors with Hawley.
Union won the boys game, 53-31.
Garner girls rally for win: Garner downed rival Middle Creek 46-43 in girls basketball on Monday. The Trojans outscored the Mustangs 16-9 in the final quarter to get the win.
North Johnston doubles up Southern Nash girls: North Johnston downed Southern Nash 38-19 in girls basketball on Monday. Tayanna Jones led the Panthers with 15 points, while Levossie Taylor had nine.
Southern Nash took the boys win, 61-44, to drop North to 2-2 on the season.
Garner teams take third: Garner’s swim teams finished third in a quad swimming meet with Cardinal Gibbons, Middle Creek and Fuquay-Varina on Wednesday at the Triangle Aquatic Center. The Trojan boys totaled 115 points and the girls had 83 points. Cardinal Gibbons won both meets and Middle Creek was second twice.
Zack Leischner had the highest individual finish for the Trojan boys, taking second in the 500-yard freestyle. Carrington Clack was second in the girls 50 free for Garner.
Aycock sweeps South Johnston: C.B. Aycock swept basketball games from South Johnston on Wednesday night. The Golden Falcons won in boys play, 53-41, and in girls play, 48-35. Both South teams stood 2-2 on the season after the losses.
