The spring sports season debuted this week and the first notable championship of the season will be on the line in the Four Oaks Bank Cup, a girls soccer tournament between six Johnston County schools.
West Johnston has held the Cup since 2014 (and a 3-2 overtime win over Cleveland). The 2015 Cup was cancelled in the wake of a long stretch of winter weather and rain that hit the area in late February and early March last season.
If things stay on schedule this year, the finals will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Cleveland High School. Keep up with scores and the schedule online at smithfieldherald.com.
