Notable: Chris started cheering his sophomore year and quickly became a key part of the SSS squad both in action and in practices. It gave him a group to rely on as he dealt with the death of both of his parents. “We worked hard together and my SSS cheer team has been there to support me every step of the way,” he said. … He quickly saw how the work ethic it took to excel as a cheerleader carried over into other areas of life. … And Chris had great success in cheering, winning the team Coach’s Award as a junior and being named the Two Rivers 3A Conference Cheerleader of the Year this past school year. … He got his love of history and desire to pursue becoming a history teacher, in part from taking Trudy Farnell’s world history class at SSS. “It was different that a lot of classes,” he said. “She made it all very relatable, it was more of showing you, ‘This is what it felt like back then.’” … “The best advice my parents gave me was simple and I remember it often,” Chris said. “It was simply, ‘Always make decisions that are the right decision for both you and anybody else involved, not just yourself.’”
