A Cary-based photographer is suspected of possessing child pornography, according to the Cary Police Department.
David Earl Maney II, 43, was arrested Monday afternoon on 12 charges of second-degree sexual exploitation of a child, according to county records.
Maney, of 104 Arbor Way in Cary, is suspected of having pornographic images of children on his computer, according to Lt. Steve Fonke. The suspected crime dated to June 1, according to records. A warrant alleges Maney had images of children as young as 3 and 4.
Through his business, DM2 Photography, Maney, 43, shoots photos of sports, bands and models. His Facebook page features pictures of scantily clad women, including some he apparently photographed.

Maney has been a freelance contributor of stories and photos to some of The News & Observer’s community newspapers. He also works in data entry for a Chapel Hill-based company and was employed at OfficeMax until June of this year, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Brandi Marie, 23, said in an interview that she posed as a model in several photography sessions with Maney. He made her uneasy in the first session, inviting her on a date with his family, she said.
“I got a little bit weirded out – let’s just say that he was being super nice, but then he apologized to me,” she said. Marie returned for two more sessions, which Maney shot for free, she said.
Maney shoots photos of a number of young women in the area, and mentioned to Marie that his clientele included a girl of 16 or 17 years old, she said.
Last week, Maney announced on Facebook that he was considering putting the business on hiatus, citing personal issues.
Police have not indicated whether they think Maney photographed pornographic images of minors.
Maney was held Monday at the Wake County Detention Center; as of 5 p.m. his bond had not been set, according to county records.
