Middle Creek band competes in Parade of Champions
The Middle Creek High School Marching Band competed in the 2014 Parade of Champions at James Madison University in Virginia. Middle Creek earned the sixth overall highest score and won, in its class, Best Visual Performance, Best General Effect and second place in Best Overall Class 3A.
Panther Creek band competes in Capital City Band Expo
The Panther Creek High School Marching Band competed in Sanderson High School’s Capital City Band Expo and the Bands of America Regional Championship in October. The band won the Capital City Band Expo’s Grand Champion title for the second year in a row. The band earned awards for Outstanding Music, Visual and General Effect in the Bands of America Regional Championship, and will compete in the Grand National Championships this month.
Fall Strings Concert
Green Hope High School’s Fall Strings Concert will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the school auditorium, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary. Admission is free. Donations of canned food will be accepted.
Cary Choral Classic
Choral ensembles from Cary High School, Panther Creek High School and Green Hope High School will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Cary High School auditorium, 638 Walnut St., Cary. Each school’s ensemble will perform alone, and the three groups will perform three pieces together. Admission costs $5 for adults and $2 for students, up to $15 per family.
The Middle Creek High School Theatre Department will present “Almost, Maine” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 8, in the school auditorium, 123 Middle Creek Park Ave., Apex. Green Hope High School will present Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” adapted for the stage, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, through Saturday, Nov. 15, in the school auditorium, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary. The Middle Creek High School PTSA will host the third annual Winter Wonders holiday craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at 123 Middle Creek Park Ave., Apex.

Photo essay competition
The Cary Photographic Artists will sponsor a photo essay competition for Wake County students in ninth through 12th grade. Voice of Democracy Program
