Police arrested a woman and charged her with stealing credit cards from shoppers at local stores.

Apex police charged Cassandra Elizabeth Scott, 30, of Raleigh and Morrisville, on Nov. 27 with larceny from a person, financial card fraud, financial card theft and identity theft.

Scott also faces more than 40 charges from other jurisdictions in similar cases, according to Apex police Capt. Ann Stephens.

Tips from the public helped lead to the arrest, Stephens said in a news release.

Police asked for help to identify the woman in November. At the time, police said a pocket book was stolen from a customer at a Target store on Oct. 26. The woman was also suspected in two other cases in Apex and Cary, police had said.
