One killed, one injured during robbery at Holly Springs house

A 49-year-old man was killed and a second man was wounded during what Holly Springs police said appeared to be a robbery at a New Hill Road home Sunday night.

Police were looking early Monday for two men who they said shot one man to death and wounded a second man during what investigators believe was a robbery at a house on New Hill Road late Sunday.

Police were withholding the name of the 49-year-old man who died.

The wounded man, who police said is in his mid-60s but whose identity also was not released, was treated at a hospital and released, Police Chief John Herring said.

A third person in the house was not hurt, he said.

Herring said the house did not seem to be a randomly chosen target.

Police have been called to the house several times in past years, the chief said, though he did not describe what brought them there.

There was no description of the two suspects, but police asked anyone who thinks they have information about the case to call them at 919-557-9111.
