Thales students compete in Certamen
Two Certamen teams from Thales Academy junior high in Apex competed in the regional qualifications tournament in Winston-Salem. Certamen, a quiz game, features questions on Latin material and ancient Roman and Greek history, culture and mythology. Students will go on to the semifinal and final rounds of the competition on April 11 and 12 at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Panther Creek High School students will present “Seussical,” a musical, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, in the school auditorium, 6770 McCrimmon Parkway, Cary. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets will be available for $6 to students who bring a student ID to the show on Thursday, April 10. Moe’s Southwest Grill and the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education will accept applications for two $1,000 grants for elementary schools through Sunday, April 13. Thales Academy tours

Spring Vendor Fair and Bar-B-Q Sale
The Holly Springs High School Choral Boosters will host a Spring Vendor Fair and Bar-B-Q Sale on Saturday, April 26, at Holly Springs High School, 5329 Cass Holt Road. The vendor fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and barbecue sales will be from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Vendor spaces are available. The Middle Creek Elementary School Spring Carnival will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at 110 Middle Creek Park Ave., Apex. There will be food, a video game truck, giant trike races, a Flow Circus performance and mini golf. Admission costs $10 for kids older than 5 and $6 for ages 5 and younger.
Green Hope PTSA scholarships

Friday Night Lights
Green Hope High School’s Friday Night Lights dance for the classes of 2016 and 2017 will be from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at 2599 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary. Students must turn in permission forms to receive free tickets.
