Wake deputies charge woman left 11-year-old home alone for four nights

A Wake County woman went on a four-day trip to in Florida last weekend and left her 11-year-old son home alone, according to an arrest warrant in which sheriff's deputies charged her with misdemeanor child abuse.
According to the warrant, Schwartz, 34, of 10821 Fanny Brown Road, northeast of Fuquay-Varina, went to Orlando on May 23 and left the boy alone through Monday.
The warrant, which cites the county Department of Social Services as a witness in the case, said, “The child did not eat on Thursday night, and the juvenile’s room was an environment injurious to his welfare.”
Schwartz’s bail was set at $5,000 after she surrendered to deputies at the Wake County Detention Center, and she was scheduled for a court appearance Friday.
