An Apex man faces a child-abuse charge for allowing an 11-year-old to operate a scooter.

David Michel Talarico was charged with assault on a female and misdemeanor child abuse after allegedly slapping a victim and allowing a family friend’s child to operate a scooter during the weekend, according to warrants.

Arrest warrants say Talarico was drunk during the incident. He has two previous convictions in Wake County for driving while intoxicated. He was being held on a $10,000 bond.
