Bass Lake Park reopened Friday for the first time since Hurricane Matthew, though some storm damage repairs still need to be made.
Flooding damaged a parking lot and a trail around Bass Lake, which resulted in the town closing the park shortly after the storm on Oct. 8.
“I think the main concern to that is trying to get that parking lot fixed so we can get people back on site,” town spokesman Mark Andrews said that week.
About half of the parking spaces at the park office and a portion of a trail connecting that parking lot to the picnic shelter remain closed, but about 20 parking spaces at the park office are available to visitors.
Never miss a local story.
Additional parking is available at the picnic shelter parking lot and along one side of Salem Ridge Road. Rentals and park programs are being held as scheduled.
