Apex residents have one more chance to shape a potential bond referendum.
The Town Council has been discussing a $15 million bond referendum to deal with traffic problems. Most of the money would be spent on completing the Apex Peakway loop.
The bond, if approved by the Town Council, would be put to a vote during November’s general election. If residents approve the bond, the town would have the authority to begin borrowing the money needed. No tax increase would be needed to pay for it.
No one other than town officials have spoken publicly about the bond since it was first brought up at the town’s annual retreat in March.
A public hearing is set for Sept. 1, the last chance for residents to voice their opinions. It will be at Town Hall at 7 p.m.
Barring any last-minute change of heart after that public hearing, the bond will likely then be authorized for the November ballot.
