Cary’s Community Emergency Response Team and the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host a golf tournament and barbecue in memory of firefighter Jon Schondelmayer at 1 p.m. at Lochmere Golf Club, 2511 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary. Race for Our Heroes 5K
The Amberly neighborhood and Carolina Preserve at Amberly will host the Race for Our Heroes 5K from 9-11 a.m. at 1075 Residents Club Drive, Cary. The race will raise money for Operation: Coming Home, a local charity that builds homes for veterans.
Registration for the one-mile race for ages 12 and younger costs $5. Registration for the 5K for recreational runners costs $25 through Friday and $30 the day of the race.
