Cary Scout earns Eagle rank
Neal Hutchins Lockhart of Cary attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting. For his Eagle project, Neal installed landscape lighting along the walkway at St. Paul’s Center for Hope and Healing in Cary.
Neal, the son of Malcolm and Ann Lockhart, is a senior at Cary High School and a member of Troop 212 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary.
Cary Scout earns Gold Award
Hayley Monsees, a student at Cary High School and member of Troop 1860, earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
For her project, she worked with the WakeMed Raleigh Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to make crafts and Parent Together Time, a chance for parents of babies in the unit to meet. She made scrapbooks for parents to track babies’ growth and a keepsake craft to make with babies’ footprints. She also made a binder of instructions for the hospital to host Parent Together Time and continue making scrapbooks and keepsake crafts.
Cary student helps N.C. Senate
Hannah F. Hudson of Cary served as a page in the N.C. Senate during its session last year. Pages serve for one week, attending Senate sessions and committee meetings and assisting staff members. Hannah, a student at Cary Christian School and the daughter of Joel and Angela Hudson, was sponsored by Sen. Tamara Barringer.
Cary High graduate completes Marine Corps Infantry Training
Anna Gillette Roberts, who graduated from Cary High School in 2013, graduated from the Marine Corps Infantry Training course on Jan. 23 at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville. Roberts participated in Cary High School’s Navy Jr. ROTC for four years.
