Cary student competes in composition competition

Kyler Chen of Cary, a fourth-grade student at Kingswood Elementary School and the son of Jia Li and Hong Chen, is the Southern Division Winner in the Music Teachers National Association Student Composition Competitions. He will compete in the National Finals at the MTNA National Conference in March in Chicago. Kyler studies composition with Tom Lohr, as well as piano with Eric Larsen of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and violin with Brian Reagin, concertmaster of the North Carolina Symphony.

Cary airman graduates from basic training

Air Force Airman Solomon Roberts, a 2013 graduate of Panther Creek High School and the son of Sibrina Roberts of Cary, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The eight-week training program included military studies, Air Force values, physical fitness and skills.
