Free CPR classes
The Morrisville Fire Rescue Department offers free CPR and automatic external defibrillator certification classes for Morrisville residents from 7-10 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month at Station 1, 200 Town Hall Drive. Triangle Paws 5K
The Triangle Paws 5K Run/Walk will start with a run at 1:30 p.m. and a walk at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the WakeMed Soccer Park, 201 Soccer Park Drive, Cary. The event will raise money for Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers to provide service dogs to children with health issues such as diabetes, seizure disorders, post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and autism spectrum disorders. Learn about salamanders and look for eggs and larvae during 2014, the year of the salamander according to Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the American Tobacco Trail starting in the New Hill parking area, 1309 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex. Cooking with Little Hands

Wines Around the World
Morrisville Rotary will host the sixth annual Wines Around the World at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the Perimeter Studio and Conference Center, 110 Perimeter Park Drive, suite 118, Morrisville. WAKE Up and Read
The Kraft Family YMCA will collect kids’ books for the WAKE Up and Read book drive through Saturday, March 29, at 8921 Holly Springs Road, Apex. WAKE Up and Read’s goal is to help Wake County students develop reading skills for their grade level by third grade. Donate new and gently used books for ages 12 and younger. The Cary Creative Center’s food truck rodeo fundraiser, part of the center’s C3 Raise the Roof Campaign to move to a new location, will be Saturday, March 29, at 115 Wilkinson Ave., Cary. A community yard sale will be from 7-10 a.m. The food truck rodeo with Blue Sky Dining, Sarge’s Chef on Wheels, La Farm Bakery and Barone Meatball Compay will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be kids’ activities and a sale in the center’s store.
Beer and Bacon Festival
A festival featuring 75 craft beers and 15 restaurants and their bacon dishes will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary. VIP tickets, for admission from noon to 6 p.m., restaurant tasting stations, extra beer and wine samplings and access to the VIP deck, cost $69. Apex will offer free paper shredding from 9 a.m. to noon, or until the truck of shredded documents is full, on Saturday, April 12, in the Town Hall parking lot, 73 Hunter St. Only documents with personal, identifying information will be shredded, such as bills or old checks. Each person can bring up to three small bags or boxes of paper.

Breakfast in Bed Race
The Caring Community Foundation’s Breakfast in Bed Race to raise money for local cancer patients will be Saturday, April 26, on Academy Street in Cary. Pits open at 6:30 a.m., the bed parade is at 8:30 a.m., and races start at 9 a.m. Five-person teams will design, build and race beds. There will also be kids’ activities, music and local food trucks. Purple Cloth 5K and Kid’s Dash
The third annual Purple Cloth 5K and Kid’s Dash, organized by Genesis United Methodist Church in Cary to raise money for the community-service programs of Dorcas Ministries, will be on Saturday, May 3, at Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Road, Cary. Last year’s three-mile run for all ages raised $3,500. There will be a bounce house for kids, food, awards, a raffle and an award for the best purple outfit.
