Jack Massei, a 14-year-old junior golfer at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, was invited to the Augusta National Golf Club to compete in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on April 6.

Apex students earn Eagle Scout rank

Brycen Blater, a member of Boy Scout Troop 131, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting. For his project, he built a garden shed for Farmington Woods Elementary School in Cary. Brycen, the son of Brian and Alicia Blater of Apex, is a student at Panther Creek High School.

Jake Passey, a member of Boy Scout Troop 131, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He built garden boxes and picnic tables for the Mariposa School for Children with Autism in Cary. Jake, the son of Marc and Sara Passey of Apex, is a student at Apex Middle School.

Dallin Suppes, a member of Boy Scout Troop 131, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He made an outdoor learning center for teachers and students at Olive Chapel Elementary School in Apex. Dallin, the son of Bart and Valerie Suppes, is a student at Apex High School.

Cary golfer competes in championship

Jack Massei, a 14-year-old junior golfer at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, was invited to the Augusta National Golf Club to compete in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on April 6. Jack is the son of Matt Massei, the general manager at Prestonwood Country Club.

Cary High School graduate completes basic training

Army National Guard Spec. Russell L. McCauley, a 1995 graduate of Cary High School and the son of Peggy and Robert McCauley of Cary, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. McCauley studied drill and ceremonies, military skills, physical fitness, Army history and values.
