Bands from Athens Drive, Cary, Green Hope and Panther Creek high schools, along with the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble and special guest Swing Street Band will perform a jazz concert at 3:30 p.m. at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Gates open at 3 p.m. Half of all proceeds will benefit the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Lucas Santos, a Cary High student who underwent a heart transplant in November. Memorial Day Celebrations
Staff and volunteers from Hospice of Wake County will honor veterans at 10 a.m. at HeartFields, 1050 Crescent Green Drive, Cary; and at 3:30 p.m. at Jordan Oaks, 10820 Penny Road, Cary. During each 30-minute program, guests will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and veteran volunteers will lead a prayer, light candles, and recognize veterans in attendance.
