Regarding the Aug. 3 Taylor Wanbaugh column “Oh, how Cary has changed”: The column brings tears to my eyes as I read of the changing face of Cary, which is a microcosm of the changing face of small-town America.
It is nice to have a supermarket a few miles away and a movie theater close by, but it is sad to see the fields where rabbits ran and deer grazed being replaced by super highways and Super Targets. The only solution I can see is that we don’t need to build so many Harris Teeters and Walmarts. There is such a thing as overdoing it in the name of convenience.
Never miss a local story.
