What a missed opportunity to not show the spirit of Holly Springs on the front page of “our” newspaper, the Southwest Wake News.
The sportsmanship and leadership of Gavin Kinkead was much more front-page worthy than snow in Cary in the Aug. 27 edition.
Kinkead, a runner for Holly Springs High School, was in second place at the Bay Six Kickoff Classic cross country race for freshmen and sophomores on Aug. 16 when he noticed the leader, Sam Grelck of Cardinal Gibbons, went the wrong way. Kinkead shouted for Grelck to come back to the course, and Grelck went on to win.
Never miss a local story.
I am glad I read through the paper to the end, or else I would have missed this heart-warming article.
Thank you, Gavin, for your example!
