Olive Chapel nips Prestonwood for Cary City Swim title

At the 33rd Cary City Swim Meet on Saturday, the Olive Chapel Otters edged reigning Cary City champ Prestonwood for the team title. It was a two-team race at the top as the Otters had 1,211.5 points to Prestonwood’s 1,026.5. No other teams broke the 900-point mark.

The top individual girls per age group were: Prestonwood’s Kyley Lloyd (6 and under division), the Apex Breakers’ Nicole Zettel (7-8), Olive Chapel’s Lauren Grimsrud (9-10), Scottish Hills’ Maria Baric (11-12), Park Village’s Rebecca Ssengonzi (13-14) and the Wellsley Wave’s Emily Etgen (15-18).

The top boys in each group were: Cary Park Sea Dragons’ Ethan Li (6U), the Abbington Alligators’ Max Marrujo (7-8), Cary Park’s Ethan Jong (9-10), The Christian Community’s Landon Lauffer (11-12), Olive Chapel’s Ryan Wahlers (13-14) and Prestonwood’s Tad Spence (15-18).

Spence, Baric and Ssengonzi had the most individual points overall – each totaling 60 on the day.

There were 66 events in all at the championship.
