Apex at Sanderson
The Cougars need a rebound game after last week’s loss at Leesville Road. Sanderson is improved under former Cary coach Ben Kolstad, so this figures to be a close one.
Cary at Wake Forest
Imps fans will travel to Wake Forest’s Trentini Stadium – one of the oldest and largest in Wake County – for the first time since the round one of the 2007 playoffs.
Green Hope at Jordan
While these two schools have a storied soccer rivalry, Green Hope is 0-6 all-time against Jordan in football. Easy on the “Go Falcons” chants as Green Hope has the same nickname as the PAC-6 Conference team just up the road and over the county line in Durham.
Middle Creek at Smithfield-Selma
This one could get ugly. Smithfield-Selma entered this season with the state’s longest active losing streak – it included a win that had to be later forfeited. There’s no reason to think the Mustangs won’t add to it. Middle Creek is 3-0 all-time against Smithfield-Selma.
Ravenscroft at Cardinal Gibbons
This old private-school rivalry has watched the Crusaders win four straight against the Ravens. Ravenscroft has North Carolina recruit Avery Edwards at wide receiver/tight end.
Athens Drive at Lee County
For the first time in nine years, Athens Drive and Lee County will meet as nonconference opponents. The Yellow Jackets, former members of the Tri-9, went 3-5 against Athens Drive in the eight years they were conference foes.
Wake Christian at High Point Christian
A long trip out to Guilford County is in store for the Bulldogs.
Cary Christian at St. David’s
The Knights will travel to their top eight-man football rival in Midtown Raleigh.
