Southwest Wake Athletic all-conference boys basketball team

For the third time in as many seasons, Apex guard T.J. Evans won conference player of the year as voted on by Southwest Wake Athletic Conference coaches.

For the third time in as many seasons, Apex guard T.J. Evans won conference player of the year as voted on by Southwest Wake Athletic Conference coaches.

Evans, a senior, averaged 19.1 points per game after Saturday’s state championship victory against Lake Norman.

Apex coach David Neal won his sixth coach of the year award.

Apex also had sophomore forward Ian Boyd (14.0 ppg) on the first team and senior point guard T.J. Wells (7.3 ppg) on the second team.

Panther Creek sophomore Juan Munoz (15.9 ppg) and senior Nubian Spann (9.5 ppg) were on the first team for the runner-up Catamounts.

Third-place Middle Creek had senior center Fred Iruafemi (12.7 points per game, 10.2 rebounds, 4.9 blocks) on the first team and junior Justin Tankelewicz (11.3 ppg) on the second team.

Holly Springs, which finished fourth, had two second-team guards in seniors Craig McDaniel (15.1 ppg) and Lamar Nobles (17 ppg).

Cary’s only selection was sophomore forward Cory Gensler (17.2 points)

Green Hope sophomore Ridge Ford (10.9 ppg) made the second team as did Athens Drive’s Lawrence Christmas.
