The WNBA season starts just a few months removed from the NCAA women’s basketball Final Four.
So after finishing up a great two-year career at N.C. State, where she was first-team All-ACC and an honorable mention AP All-American, Markeisha Gatling (Athens Drive class of 2010) has played in every game for the Chicago Sky and has the team’s best field goal percentage.
Gatling averaged 17.4 points for the Wolfpack during her senior year.
Teammate Ashley Williams (Green Hope 2013) saw action despite being a walk-on. She ended her season averaging 2.6 points per game, while shooting 33.3 percent from the floor.

Former Green Hope great Kristen Gaffney (Green Hope 2012) sat out most of the season at Vanderbilt but made her college debut against Florida on Feb. 27 and played in the final four games. In those four games, she averaged 18 minutes, compiling 12 points and 18 rebounds.
At Davidson, Dakota Dukes (Cary Christian 2012) played in 31 games for the Wildcats, averaging 14.4 points per game and shooting better than 50 percent from the floor. She also averaged a team-high 7.8 rebounds. Teammate Kayla Seymour (Panther Creek 2012) redshirted after transferring from Maryland-Baltimore County.
Freshman Allie Tuttle (Panther Creek 2013) played in 10 games for Northwestern this past season. Her career high was six points against IUPUI, as she averaged 2.9 points per game.
Former teammate Mercedes Harris (Panther Creek 2013) saw action in 27 games for Long Island. Her career high was five points and she averaged seven minutes a game.
Mickayla Sanders (Cary Academy 2013) had a tremendous freshman season at Liberty. Coming off the bench, she posted 9.6 points a game and 4.2 rebounds, while also making 45 3-pointers.
Whitney Coleman (Cary 2013) played in 22 games for UNC-Greensboro as a freshman, averaging two points a game.
Bethany Collins (Apex 2011) started eight games for Spring Hill College (Ala.). She averaged 8.3 points a game, shot 34 percent from the floor and 91.8 percent from the free throw line.
Caitlyn Ranson (Green Hope 2011) averaged 4.3 points per game at Belmont-Abbey and shot 32 percent from behind the arc as her team went 22-9.
At Wake Tech, Syrenna McLean (Holly Springs 2012) started in 20 of 23 games this past season and averaged 8.3 points, shooting over 43 percent from the floor.
Amy Van Deventer (Cary Christian 2013) redshirted her freshman year at King College (Tenn.).
Abby Pettit (Cary Christian 2012) played in 18 games for the Queens University in Charlotte.
