Wake Christian Academy has announced its 2012-13 high school sports award-winners and its spring sport team award-winners.
Drew Buffaloe and Noelle Helder were the Bulldogs’ athletes of the year.
Helder was an all-conference honorable-mention selection in basketball and also played volleyball and soccer. She also received the female scholarship award.
Buffaloe was a three-sport standout for Wake Christian in basketball, cross country and golf.
Nicholas Britt was the WCA male scholarship award-winner. Christian leadership awards went to Ryan Woodard and Tim Bunn.
The Bulldogs’ softball team, which won the Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference championship, picked up four all-conference selections and the league’s player of the year in Jordan Willingham. Janie Robinson, Avery Mann, Ryan Woodard and Willingham were the Wake Christian all-conference selections.
Team awards went to Willingham (MVP), Woodard (Offensive MVP), Mann (Defensive MVP) and Sam Miller, who received the Paul Franks Award.
In boys’ golf, Drew Buffaloe was honored for low average score, while Blake Buffaloe had the round of the season. John Frechette picked up the most-improved award.
Joseph Kelly received the most-improved award in boys’ tennis, while John Fuller took home the coach’s award.
In baseball, Zachery Moore (defensive award), Austin Wood (hitting award), Brandon Stephens (pitching award) and Beau Barger (coach’s award) were honored.
The girls’ soccer team had Haley Sauls named TISAC all-conference, and Helder pick up honorable-mention honors. Team awards were presented to Sauls (most improved), Helder (coach’s award), Darcy Dupree (best defensive) and Rachel Holcomb (best offensive).
