The body of a missing teen was pulled from a Chatham County lake on Monday, but how he died is still unknown.
Sean O’Donnell, 19, was reported missing Sunday. His body was recovered from Sugar Lake outside Pittsboro on Monday, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
A family member reported O’Donnell missing Sunday at 5:30 p.m. after he was last seen with friends at Sugar Lake around 4 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies began coordinating a search for O’Donnell at about 6 p.m. Sunday, but he wasn’t found.

The search intensified Monday morning with members of the sheriff’s office, Emergency Operations Center, EMS and North Chatham Fire Department joining the effort.
S.T. Wooten Corporation representatives helped the search party by clearing a path to the water. A fire department dive team recovered O’Donnell’s body shortly before noon Monday. Family was able to identify him.
O’Donnell’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy Monday afternoon. Deputies still are working to determine the cause of death.
