A 4-year-old girl died Tuesday morning of injuries suffered when a car hit her as she ran into Dearborn Drive to greet her father Monday night, police said.
Jerri Dee Quick was struck at about 9:20 p.m., police said.
Investigators said they did not expect that any charges would be filed against the driver of the car that struck the girl, Jacqueline Lyons, 57, of Durham.
Jerri saw her father pull into a parking lot across from their home in the 3600 block of Dearborn, near Old Oxford Road, and began to run to him, officers said.
Lyons, who was driving a Honda Accord, could not stop quickly enough to avoid striking the girl, they said.
