A six-year-old boy and his stepfather were hurt by gunshots in an apartment on the south side of Durham early Friday morning, according to police.
Friday, police said.
The boy’s injuries were “serious” but not apparently life-threatening, said police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The boy’s 29-year-old stepfather was shot in the foot, Michael said. Both were taken to Duke University Hospital.
The shooting occurred about 5 a.m. in an apartment at 412 E. Pilot St., off Fayetteville Street.
Early investigation shows there likely wasn’t an intruder in the apartment, but police haven’t released further details including the names of the boy and his stepfather.
