Downed power lines and repair work on them forced Durham County sheriff's deputies to close a section of Leesville Road early Wednesday morning.
The sheriff’s office said a tractor-trailer hit the lines about 3 a.m.
The road was closed from U.S. 70 to Doc Nichols Road.
Duke Energy reported that about 1,900 customers lost power because of the accident.
The company said on its outage website that it hoped to have everyone back online by noon.
