DURHAM A suspected natural gas leak closed parts of two downtown streets Friday morning while firefighters and gas-company officials investigated.
West Main and West Parrish streets were shut down between Corcoran and North Mangum streets, police said.
Firefighters also limited traffic on North Mangum Street, they said.
The incident was reported as a natural gas odor about 10 a.m., but officials were not immediately able to confirm whether it was gas or what the source was.
Never miss a local story.
Firefighters were working with workers from Public Service of North Carolina to identify the substance and whence it came.
