A 79-year-old woman and her 81-year-old husband were identified Thursday as the people killed in a head-on crash on N.C. 210 in Johnston County on Wednesday.
Robert Sherrill McGee was driving the couple's 2005 pickup truck east on the road and Melba McLamb McGee was next to him when a pickup truck that David Michael Walker, 19, was driving west crossed the center line and smashed into the McGees' truck, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
The McGees, who lived at 605 McGee Road in Benson, died at the scene, troopers said.
Walker, who lives at 1472 Evan Road in Princeton, was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh with injuries that troopers said were not life-threatening. He was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of the center line.

Walker's 2015 Chevrolet truck kept moving for a short distance after hitting the McGees' 2005 Dodge, and a Kia passenger car hit the back end of the Chevrolet, troopers reported.
Liane Patrice Buckmon-Hatley, 52, who lives on N.C. 210 in Four Oaks, was driving the Kia and also was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries.
