A manicurist class will begin April 3 in Room C1091B in the Wilson Building at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. The class will meet from 5 to 10:45 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays until Aug. 16.

Working Smart Training – 1-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from April 17 to April 27, in Room C2019 in the Wilson Building on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. Topics include communication skills, problem-solving skills, time management and accountability. , and more. If you are interested in increasing your chance for employment and promotion, Working Smart Training is the session for you. Receive a certificate of completion endorsed by Capital Area Workforce Development Board.
Digital Literacy Certificate – 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from April 4 to May 9, in Room A164 in the Elsee Building on the Smithfield campus. The class teaches basic computer concepts and skills.
Skills for Success – 9 a.m.-noon April 6, April 20 or May 4 at the N.C. Works Career Center in Clayton. Get resume tips and learn how to communicate your skills during your interview, on your resume and job application, and in your 60-second elevator pitch.
Direct-Care Basics – 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Aug. 22 to Nov. 22, in the Health Building on the Smithfield campus. The course introduces students to the skills and responsibilities of the personal- and home-care assistant.
Employability Skills Labs – 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from April 4 through May 11, in the JCC Career Services Center on the Smithfield campus. Need to create a resume, cover letter or learn how to complete online job applications? Need to brush up on interview techniques or practice on KeyTrain for the National Career Readiness Certificate/Workkeys test? The Employability Skills Lab allows students to work at their own pace with an instructor to fulfill goals and career objectives.
