The Students Against Destructive Decisions club at West Johnston High School swept the state awards at the 33rd annual SADD Conference.
The club received the Chapter of the Year award for the school and community activities it did throughout the year to promote safe decisions.
Senior Nik Reasor won the SADD Student of the Year award for his service to the state board, to his school and for helping to plan the 2015 SADD Conference.
“I was honestly honored when I won the award,” Reasor said. “I wasn’t expecting it at all, because everyone on the SAB (Student Advisory Board) was a great individual who selflessly devoted numerous hours of time working on the conference,.
Never miss a local story.
“It was just great to have my hard work recognized and be able to say that I have been an integral part of this great club.”
Club adviser Amanda Fisher also walked away a trophy.
“The whole West Johnston section got insanely loud, and we got a standing ovation for winning all three awards,” said Fisher. “I was excited to win, but I was more excited when they called Nik’s name and when they called West Johnston for Chapter of the Year.”
“I am so proud of all my kids for all the work that they do throughout the year,” she added.
