Johnston County sheriff's investigators were working Friday to figure out how a man and woman died in a house in Newton grove where a visitor found them Thursday afternoon, a spokeswoman said.
Capt. Tammy Amaon said the investigators had termed the case a “death investigation.” The sheriff’s office did not disclose how the two died or when.
The man and woman were inside a house at 112 Unity Drive. A visitor told deputies that she went there about 4:30 p.m. to see the man and found the bodies, Amaon said.
Deputies did not disclose the identities of the victims.
The 1.7-acre property where the house is on the cul-de-sac off Alonzo Road and near Interstate 40 is owned by Matthew Scott Jones, according to county tax records.
