Forty-four apartments and a preschool were without water Wednesday morning because of a water-main break at Fordham Boulevard and South Estes Drive, Orange Water and Sewer Authority officials said.
The South Estes Drive Apartments and the Binkley Preschool lost service because workers had to shut down the line to find and repair the break, officials said.
Both northbound lanes of Fordham Boulevard, which is U.S. 15-501, were closed about 6 a.m. because of the break, but officials were able to reopen one lane about two hours later.
Police urged drivers to look for routes around the area.
OWASA said a water-main repair can take four to six hours, and crews had not found out if there were complications underground.
