Dene Peterson, founder and developer of ElderSpirit Community in Abingdon, Va., will appear from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in Room 527, UNC Health Sciences Library, 335 South Columbia St.
ElderSpirit is known as the first established mixed-income, senior cohousing community in the United States and has drawn widespread attention for its groundbreaking approach. Peterson, a former Glenmary sister, is known as a pioneer of the cohousing movement.
In addition, a speaker from Carolina Villages will describe the community. Suggestion donation is $10 for the event, for which seating is limited.
