UNC officials cleared a campus-wide alert Wednesday morning after campus and town police were unable to find a reported armed man on the campus.
The all-clear was issued at 9:25 a.m., about a half-hour after sirens sounded and emergency notices told everyone on campus to stay where they were.
“It’s safe to resume normal activities,” the message said.
UNC and Chapel Hill police officers searched around the school’s Venable Hall after authorities received a report that an armed and dangerous man was on campus.
Police shut down roads in the area during the search.
Officials sounded campus warning sirens and sent alerts at 8:53 a.m.
