    A report of a man with a gun outside of the UNC Naval ROTC Armory building about 830am Wednesday, December 2, 2015 triggers a UNC Chapel Hill, NC campus alert and lockdown for most of an hour centering around the ROTC building at the corner of South Road and Columbia Street. No man with a gun was found and the campus was cleared for normal conditions before 1000am Wednesday.

    Harold Russell contacted local historian, Tom Magnuson, to help him locate the former site of his church, Harvey's Chapel AME Church in Hillsborough, which was abandoned during Jim Crow segregation because the road became impossible to travel when the county excluded it from regular road maintenance.
