Gov. Pat McCrory announced Friday that he has named Jeff Sheehan of Raleigh, senior vice president of Duke Realty, to represent Wake and six neighboring counties on the state Board of Transportation.

Sheehan will fill the unexpired term of another Raleigh real estate executive, Kane Realty President Mike Smith, who raised $106,000 for McCrory’s 2012 campaign. Smith, who joined the board in early 2013, cited “my other time constraints” in his decision to step down.

Sheehan, a Republican, contributed $2,000 to McCrory. He will represent DOT’s Division 5, which includes Wake, Durham, Franklin, Vance, Warren, Granville and Person counties.
