Raleigh police have charged a 19-year-old man in the killing of a man Friday night at a Raleigh apartment complex.
Darius Lamont Watkins has been charged with murder in the death of Casty St. Louis, 20, at the River Birch at Town Center apartments near Old Wake Forest Road.
Witnesses told ABC11 that St. Louis was visiting his girlfriend and was shot near a playground filled with children. A witness who called 911 told authorities that a black Jeep with a woman and two men sped through the neighborhood and one of the men shot St. Louis twice in the stomach and once in the arm. The shooting happened at 6300 Shadowland Crossing.
Watkins and an accomplice have also been charged with an earlier robbery involving the shooting victim.
Warrants alleged that Watkins and Adrian Lamar Oden, 22, of the 600 block of Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh, robbed St. Louis at gunpoint on Aug. 2 and took $800 worth of cash and marijuana. Both men are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Watkins is being held without bail at the Wake County Detention Center. Oden is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Both men are scheduled to appear before a Wake District Court judge at 9 a.m. Monday.
