Eight Broughton High School students were taken to the hospital after a school bus collided with another vehicle Tuesday afternoon, according to a Wake County schools spokeswoman.
About 25 students were on the bus when it was involved in the accident downtown, said Lisa Luten. The accident happened between 2:20 p.m. and 2:35 p.m., Luten said.
A vehicle made an illegal left turn in front of the bus on West Morgan Street at Glenwood Avenue, according to Laura Hourigan with the Raleigh Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was cited for making an improper turn, Hourigan said.
The eight students were taken to various hospitals, Luten said. The nature of their injuries was unclear.
