Bill targets some fat NC pensions for highly-paid state, local employees

North Carolina legislation filed Thursday aims to prevent highly-paid state and local employees from using the retirement system to spike their pensions as they near retirement. The move comes after reports of community college presidents getting big salary bumps while closing in on retirement. The legislation would require the institution or the employee to cover the cost.
