A fire on Sunday ruined a family’s apartment in a building at 1201 S. East St. in Raleigh, and police arrested a Knightdale man there shortly afterward on a charge of burning personal property.
Firefighters said the fire left four people homeless, and they ruled that an incendiary device was the cause.
The fire was reported just before 11:30 a.m.
About 90 minutes later, police arrested Rodriguz Garciea McKoy, 30, at the fire scene and charged him with burning personal property.
Never miss a local story.
McKoy, who told officers he lived in Knightdale but had no permanent address, was being held on $10,000 bail Monday for a first court appearance.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 10 minutes and kept it from displacing others in the two-story building, they reported.
