The Wake County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that it is awaiting information from the State Medical Examiner before determining if the death of a 19-year-old Wake County woman found in Falls Lake involved any crime.
Authorities pulled the body of Annalisa Christine Schulze from the water on Tuesday afternoon after people using the area for recreation spotted the body floating.
Schulze lived on Avborough Court, near Wake Forest, the sheriff’s office said.
Law enforcement regularly treats any unattended death as a possible homicide or suicide until investigators can gather enough information to decide how the person died, and the sheriff’s office is following that procedure, a spokesman said.
Never miss a local story.
Usually, investigators also get a search warrant to examine the area where the person was found so that evidence can be legally used if they decide later that a crime was committed.
