A medical examiner's report will likely be needed to determine what killed a man whose body was found in a ditch alongside Old Stage Road, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
The man, identified as Kevin Edward Thomas, 34, is believed to have lived near Fuquay-Varina.
Thomas was found near the Green Springs Valley Mobile Home Park, southwest of Garner, a little after noon Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies said.
Never miss a local story.
Sheriff Donnie Harrison said it was unclear whether the death resulted from a hit-and-run, wreck, natural causes or if Thomas was thrown out of a vehicle.
Authorities had received a call Wednesday morning about a body, but could not find it. Another search after a second call located Thomas.
Later Wednesday, deputies were interviewing a woman who lives on North Spring Garden Circle in the trailer park.
Investigators have not called the incident a criminal case, however, and a sheriff’s office spokesman said there are no suspects in Thomas’ death.
Thomas was arrested in September by Raleigh police on a misdemeanor charge of assault on a female, and he gave an address on Cotten Road then. He gave a Raleigh address when he was arrested in 2013.
Thomas had been scheduled for a Nov. 21 court appearance on the most recent charge.
