A 25-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Kimberly Dianne Richardson, 25, who was six months pregnant, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
Richardson died on Sunday as a result of her injuries. Her child, a girl, survived and remained hospitalized at WakeMed.
Richardson called 911 herself after suffering a gunshot wound near Triangle Town Center mall on Saturday night. Officers responding to the call arrived at the 3600 block of Sumner Boulevard at 9:40 p.m.
Richardson’s Facebook page describes her as an employee of Zales, which has a store at the mall.
The victim’s boyfriend, Daniel Joseph Steele, was taken into custody without incident at his home on Snowcrest Drive later that night. He has been charged with Richardson’s murder.
Steele was held without bond on Sunday the Wake County Detention Center. He was scheduled for a court appearance on Monday.
