State troopers cited a Wake County school bus driver for reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt before a bus veered off the pavement on Buffaloe Road and rolled onto its side Monday morning.
Six people, including the driver, Walter Holden of Spring Hope, were taken to hospitals, though officials said none was seriously hurt.
Bus 1196 was carrying students to Wendell Middle School, Wake County Public School System spokeswoman Lisa Luten said.
Never miss a local story.
Luten said six students were on the bus along with Holden.
Wake County EMS crews took three students to WakeMed Children's Hospital, two students to Rex Hospital and Holden to WakeMed Hospital. One student was left the care of parents, EMS spokesman Jeff Hammerstein said.
The wreck happened about 7:30 a.m. near Stone Station Road, a short way outside Raleigh.
Buffaloe Road was closed while state troopers investigated the crash.
The State Highway Patrol said the bus rolled because it went off the pavement, and no other vehicles were involved.
It was not clear why the bus went off the road.
