The first woman chosen to lead Kiwanis International spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh on Friday.
Susan A. Petrisin of Lansing, Mich., is the incoming president of Kiwanis, the first woman to lead the organization in its 100-year history. Kiwanis began in 1915 as an all-male group to promote business among its members in Detroit, and now has 8,400 clubs around the world.
Petrisin spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh at Highland United Methodist Church and later visited the Boys and Girls Club of Raleigh, one of the public service agencies supported by Kiwanis in the Triangle.
The Kiwanis Club of Raleigh was established in 1920.
