A Raleigh Fire Department ladder truck that collided with a car on Glenwood Avenue on Tuesday evening was responding to a call when the accident took place, according to police.
A woman and three young children were injured when their Mazda 626 hit the truck at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Angela Peebles, 30, and Lamaiyah Peebles, 5, Aniyah McCullough, 3 and Ayden Peebles, 1, were taken to WakeMed’s Raleigh campus with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
No one on the ladder truck, a 2007 Pierce driven by Dwayne Lee Massenburg, 30, was hurt, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The fire truck was headed north on Pleasant Valley Road and the car was going west on Glenwood Avenue when the crash happened, police said. A woman who called 911 said the fire truck’s siren was going and that the car did not stop, according to a recording of the call released Wednesday.
On Wednesday, police were investigating how it happened, Sughrue said. No charges had been filed.
